Welcome to my Emetophobia nutrition page. Again, please don’t worry I am not trying to get you to spend money or sell you anything you don’t need, that is not my way. I just wanted to list things that I have found of value in regards to nutrition or supplementation to help me over the years to supplement a healthy diet. Being emetophobic can wreak havoc on your health and here are some of the things I use to help me everyday, especially when I am not eating large meals. I have also listed supplements I would take when I was in full bore crisis mode, thank the Lord I haven’t had to do that in a while.


Daily Multivitamin

One thing I have learned as an emet is that nutrition can suffer. During my worst times I remember only eating crackers and iced tea for weeks at a time. Not a good thing at all for A body. I started taking multi-vitamins in the form of liquids years back during the bad times but now that I am stable I have chosen a great organic multi. I have tried several brands and at this point feel that the Kind Organics brand is giving me more energy and vitality. Having suffered for over 30 years I am constantly worried the impact being an emet has been on my body and I religiously take my multi everyday. It is gentle on my stomach and I rarely have any intestinal issues at all while taking them. Again, this is just what I use, you may find a multi that works better with your system. There are tons of brands to choose from.

This is a must. Anxiety and emetophobia go hand in hand. An unfortunate side effect  can be Irritable Bowel Syndrome, a pretty debilitating disorder stemming from the effects of anxiety on your nervous system. I have taken many brands of probiotics but have found that this brand introduced to my by my wife works the best. It has greatly reduced my bouts of upset stomach and makes my day much more manageable. Combining this with controlling of my fear has made my personal time in the bathroom much less traumatic for me. I take this with the multi every morning.


For Mind and Energy

At the request of my wife, I have also been taking a spoonful a day of straight coconut oil. It is purported to support brain activity and energy along with a myriad of other wonderful benefits. I thought, what the heck. I don’t mind the taste and can take it straight off the spoon or mixed in yogurt or a smoothie. I feel great and this is part of what I do every day in addition to the multivitamin and probiotics.

I like the sweet and tart taste of it straight or mixed with a glass of water to sip throughout the day.


In Crisis Mode ****

Ensure Nutrition For Emetophobia In Crisis ModeNothing was more helpful or comforting to me than Ensure during the roughest parts of my struggle with Emetophobia. Butter Pecan was my drink of choice. I know it is marketed to older people but when I was living on a diet of crackers and sweet tea I was unable to consume anything else. Ensure tasted good, had nutrition and didn’t upset my stomach. I hope you are not at this point in your life, but if you are it is essential that you receive nutrition the best way that you can.

A buddy of mine recently told me that I should eat two boiled eggs a day to help increase testosterone after the subject came up in conversation. Now that I am in my 40s the docs are saying that my levels are dropping some. After a lengthy discussion about the bad publicity on the egg and cholesterol I decided to give it a try. Lo and behold I was amazed. Mainly at the amount of energy I have during the day and I seem to have better days emotionally when I eat them. The magic may be in the protein of the egg. I don’t eat a lot of meat anymore but noticed without a doubt in the past that I feel better when I eat lean red meats. I think a nice juicy steak would be my biggest choice. It might have something to do with my blood type. I seem to remember reading a book from way back about it. I did find some info here if interested.

Eggspress Egg CookerI try to eat at least one egg a day and since it is so common, I bought my wife one of these and we love it. Makes cooking boiled eggs a breeze and I can do an occasional omelet or poached egg. Certainly a nifty invention.

Again this is just something that I notice helps me with energy and keeping the fears at bay.
